Making the ring
Josh made my engagement ring. When I tell people that, sometimes they think I mean that he went to a store and designed it and someone else made it. But he literally made it with his hands. He cut the blue topaz stone with a gem cutter, which he also made out of a machine meant for geology students to polish rocks. And he ordered pieces of platinum on the internet and made them into a ring.
He worked on the ring in our basement for about six months, so every time I walked downstairs, he would hide it sheepishly behind his back. I knew he was making it, but I didn’t know what it was going to look like or when he was going to propose…until January!
